Brief

Now that I have launched my bands identity we have been tasked with making a music video to further develop their brand by choosing an appropriate song to animate to.

Motion Graphics
The Enneagram

The Enneagram is an explainer video directed by Dough Alberts and animated by Jonathan Sichak.
The video explains personality types and how they interpret the world and emotions.

The Deep Web Explained by Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves explains the deep web and its origins, high-contrast motion graphics create a technical, dark, even eerie vibe. It shows the true range of emotions you can evoke with motion graphics.

Kinetic Typography
This video was created by animator Gary Motion. It is based on TV show Rick and Morty. It adds visuals to a classic comedy TV moment, but is flashy and fast-moving. It's a super slick piece that has some great detail like the diagonally-sliding text, and the varied use of style and colour.
This video was created by Ryan Pereira based on a sequence from the film Kick-ass uses a hand-drawn style to reflect the brand's comic book influences. It's a great example of how drama and emotion can be expressed with moving type.
Celebrating their 50th anniversary with a series of concerts back in 2012, Rolling Stones released a new track 'Doom and Gloom'. For the music video, Trunk Animation designed this great splatter style animation, which is reminiscent ofRalph Steadman's typographic artistry.

These were my first attempts animating to find a style suitable for my chosen song and theme.

For the moving aspect of my animation, I created short images using the animation assist on Procreate. I made these with the lyrics of the song in mind. It is about someone who is struggling with mental health and begging for help, I have done both literal and abstract images for the lyrics so it is partially up to the viewers interpretation.

I researched the program Procreate Dreams to complete my animation. Since it is quite a new program I wanted to know if it was worth the money, after learning how to use and finishing this animation I would use it again. However, there needs to be more features for animation, not just layering and the basic paint brushes unlike Procreate that allows you to import your own brushes.
